KUANTAN, May 16 (Bernama) -- A Copyright Tribunal to help local artistes and musicians lodge complaints on issues related to copyright and royalty will be set up next month.
Chairman of the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) Datuk Abdul Manan Ismail said the Copyright Tribunal which was abolished in 2003, will be reactivated for the purpose mentioned.
"We have also identified judges who will be presiding the related cases, whereas six counsels will also be appointed temporarily," he told reporters here, today.
The Tribunal which was earlier established in 1999 was dissolved because it did not recieve any response, since not even a single case had been recorded since its inception till 2003.
"Lately, many issues have surfaced, and artistes do not have a place to complaint, so it is appropriate that the government revived the tribunal," he said.
